Matthew Schwartz Memorial Endowment

Matthew Schwartz, a rig worker from Sylvan Lake, Alberta, tragically lost his life at the age of 25 in a 2004 workplace incident.

Established in his memory, the Matthew Schwartz Memorial Safety Scholarship, funded by the Matthew Schwartz Endowment, promotes workplace safety by encouraging meaningful dialogue and reinforcing RDP’s commitment to safety awareness in the workplace.

A 2023 workplace incident at an oil and gas drilling operation near Rocky Mountain House resulted in a serious worker injury. As part of an Alberta Occupational Health and Safety sentence, funds were directed to the Matthew Schwartz Memorial Endowment to promote workplace safety and support future trades professionals.
